Carrie Kane, MFT

Welcome! I am a counselor who loves to collaborate to create a space where individuals, couples, and family members can feel safer to be more honest and vulnerable with each other and themselves. I am trained in the Developmental Model and also utilize Bowen Family Systems, Emotional Freedom Technique tapping, and Solution Focused Counseling. I enjoy helping clients examine their life and relationship struggles and strengths, and how those dynamics also have roots in their individual experiences and beliefs.

I have a long background in community-based policing, and after many years of that work, a deep interest in people’s individual and relational issues compelled me to return to school and received my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Antioch University.  While I was in graduate school, I did my internship at the Couples Center and am delighted to be working as a full staff member for the Center now. I am in the process of obtaining licensure in Massachusetts and New York.

I have intimate insight on intergenerational trauma, the resulting family distress, and how that cycle continues to repeat without proper interventions. I have had multiple experiences of walking with people through some of the hardest moments in their life. 

In my clinical experience, I truly invoke the Pat Parelli quote: "Take the time it takes so it takes less time."  I find it vital to respect each client's decision regarding the speed of therapy and holding space for those who need time to sort through a lot. I enjoy walking with all clients on their journeys, with special interests in trauma, loss or grief, and working with first responders and folks in the military.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and being outdoors be it gardening, hiking with my dog or horseback riding with friends.
