CJ Everhart, LMHC, MS Ed
Licensed Mental Health Counselor
I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor and educator with experience working with individuals, groups, and couples. My experience includes working with folks from all different walks of life, including the LGBTQ+ community, the law enforcement community, trauma survivors, couples experiencing infidelity and loss, those struggling with eating disorders and addiction, and people who feel stuck.
I believe seeking therapy takes courage. As such, I bring compassion, warmth, respect and openness to the process. I strive to hold a no judgement space for people while working with them to develop new perspectives and tools to cope with challenging experiences and life transitions, thus transforming counter-productive ways of seeing and being. I am a sex positive therapist and enjoy engaging in the work with all different individuals and pairs ranging from intimate partnerships to family dyads. Specifically, I focus on Relational therapy, The Developmental model, Attachment and Trauma informed therapy and Family Systems approaches. From this foundation, I work to help people find a sense of peace and presence within themselves and connection within their intimate relationships.
I am a native New Yorker, nature lover and artist. I spent many years working in the most diverse and challenging public school system as an educator, pedagogy expert and teacher coach. In that work, I supported teachers, children, and families as they navigated issues of systemic racism, divergent learning needs, emotional trauma and family transitions in order to support their personal and educational success. In my free time, I love to play softball and tennis, be outside in nature and spend time with friends and family.

Testimonials
“I have had a vast array of therapists in my 70+ years. None of those therapists have even come close to bringing me the brilliant level of insight and gentle guidance I have consistently received from CJ throughout the past year. In truth and sincerity, I give thanks for CJ’s gift which is helping me immeasurably in my daily existence.” - D.U.
"We started working with CJ Everhart in December 2021 remotely and are grateful to have found her. She continues to be intuitive, sensitive and very much helps us unearth what needs to be attended to in a profoundly supportive way. I am always impressed by CJ's ability to read what is going on with each of us and between us even though our sessions are remote. We feel very lucky to work with CJ and highly recommend her!" - A.F.
"We highly recommend CJ as an amazing couples therapist. She is compassionate and empathetic and approaches our couples work with balance for each of our perspectives. She has a great sense of humor and knows when a good laugh will help in the moment. She keeps us accountable to each other and to our couples work so she also knows when to push us to dig deeper into what we’re experiencing. She has knowledge of a wide range of therapeutic approaches and applies them flexibly according to the situation. Most importantly, she has helped guide us through a difficult period in our relationship and encouraged us to turn towards each other as we work our way through it." - B.B. & E.C.
