Felicia Romano, MHC

Mental Health Counselor

I love working with couples across a broad spectrum of issues. Seeing couples heal and develop together through their therapy journeys is inspiring and encouraging!

I have particular expertise and interest in working with:

  • queer/gender non-conforming couples

  • recovery from infidelity or deception

  • sex, intimacy, and desire discrepancy

  • non-monogamous couples

  • challenges with substance use

  • couples dealing with the challenges of living together and division of labor

  • therapy with teens and their families

  • neurodivergence

I have many nonbinary and trans clients and enjoy being part of the process of supporting you in moving toward a cohesive identity which feels right for you. I also enjoy working with couples where one or more of the partners is neurodivergent. I am especially well-versed in ADHD due to my own personal and professional experiences. In addition, I am interested in working with couples at various stages of struggles with substance use, or addiction and recovery with a harm reduction approach, addressing the codependency which often is present in these dynamics.

As a parent, I have also found myself resonating with couples trying to find balance in their roles as parents, while still maintaining their relationships and nourishing their own individual wishes and desires. Working with teens through the lens of family systems, romantic relationships and friendships has also been a rewarding part of my work.

In addition to my work in the Developmental Model and discernment counseling, my clinical training was heavily influenced by Jungian depth psychology and psychodynamic theory. I am always curious to know what lies under the surface. I enjoy working with dreams, fantasy, imagination, narrative, and parts work with individual clients, and I find these tools valuable in working with couples as well. I also often integrate gestalt, expressive, and sensory-based interventions into sessions.

I earned my MA in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. Prior to my therapy career I worked as a clinical research coordinator for a large study investigating client-therapist matching in large community mental health systems. I still enjoy reading current research and keeping up to date on new developments in the field.

I am a musician, and as such I approach life and therapy from a creative standpoint. Believing in the human propensity to grow and evolve at all stages of life is a core value of mine. I enjoy taking long walks in the forest with my dog, making art with my kid, and laughing a whole lot.
